Global trade trends turned positive in the first quarter of 2024, according to the latest Global Trade Update from UN Trade and Development, launched today.
The value of trade in goods increased by around 1% quarter-over-quarter, while trade in services by about 1.5%.
This surge, fueled by positive trade dynamics for the United States and developing countries, particularly large Asian developing economies, is expected to add approximately $250 billion to goods trade and $100 billion to services trade in the first half of 2024 compared to the second half of 2023.
Global GDP growth forecasts remain at around 3% for 2024, with the short-term trade outlook being cautiously optimistic. If positive trends persist, global trade in 2024 could reach almost $32 trillion, though it is unlikely to surpass the record levels seen in 2022.

Summertime. In Europe it is that time of year, the time to have a holiday break to reload batteries & enjoy life.
I am a reader, I always have been. I learned to read when I was four years old & immidistely fell in love with books. After childrens book, it started with Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators, Alistair McClean & JRR Tolkien. It was downhill from there.
In my summer break I spend most of my time with books. Finding & exploring new worlds from one place.
I always save up a number pf books for my vacation, various types & genres. Inoike to mive between novels, biographied & professional litterature. So far this summer I have read twelve books, you can see them in the photo below.
Reading is about learning, learning is life – life is learning.
It is also an amazing way to relax, to refresh the brain, reload batteries & to get new persepctives. All books are magic places. Some books are more magic than others, but they all have one thing in common – they make my life better.
We have a place in South of France since 15 years and we spend sunmer i beautiful Provence. We love our village Boulouris-sur-mer just outside Saint-Raphaël on the French Riviera, la Côte d’Azur.
This year we have made some wonderful tours to Grasse, Cannes and Èze.
Grasse is the world capital of perfumes. The entire city center is dressed in pink umbrellas. Charming city that is highly recommended.
Èze is a medieval village that was built over 400 m above sea level. We had an outstanding lunch prepared by Chef Justin Schmitt at Chateau Eza (GM⭐️⭐️). Brilliant.
We also did an afternoon and evening in our neighbor city of Cannes.
In Cannes we had dinner at the new Marea rooftop restaurant in Cannes port. Chef Alexandre Douglas Burger gave us an outstanding roasted scallops & a stuffed seabass from heaven. Marvellous place.
