We are a family of hikers that love going out for day walking trips with our beloved dogs. Sometimes we go for longer multiday hikes in the Scandinavian nature of forrests, mountains & hills.
Ossi who a four year old Welsh Springer Spaniel & Goliat is a fearless four year old Irish Terrier. They both love being out in nature with us doing up to 20-25 km hiles a day. They also love seing other animals.
We often see wildlife when hiking, like deer, wild boar, foxes, beavers, otter & we have even seen a bear or two & naturally raindeer, up North.
Now & then we run into the King of Forrest, the Moose (or elk as they say in some countries). There are very few animals more impressive than a moose.
Moose is the world’s tallest, largest & heaviest extant of deer. It is also the tallest, and the second-largest, land animal on the Northern Hemisphere falling short only of the American bison in body mass. Most adult male moose have broad, palmate antlers & can weigh up to 700-800 kilos, being as high as stand over 2.1 m (6 ft 11 in) at the shoulder with a span across the antlers of 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in).
Unlike most other deer species, moose do not form herds and are solitary animals.
This weekend we saw one of the largest eöks we have ever seen.
These Kings of the North are really oustanding animals.
