Downing Street has slapped down demands for an extension to the Brexit transition period as the latest round of talks with Brussels opened.
Britain’s chief negotiator David Frost and EU counterpart Michel Barnier resumed discussions by video call as they raced to strike an agreement before the December 31 deadline.
No 10 says it is a “matter of UK law” that current arrangements terminate at the end of the year.
