Steampunk Appoints Former DHS Boss Kevin McAleenan to Board

My friend and former colleadue Kevin McAleenan, former Department of Homeland Security official has joined the board of directors of information technology firm Steampunk.

Kevin McAleenan, who led DHS on an acting basis from April to November of last year, will provide direction for Steampunk’s enterprise to drive growth efforts, the company said Wednesday.

We have many common friends and the same mentor in Judge Rob Bonner, former Commissioner of United States Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) and Administrator of DEA.

In a comment Kevin say: “I am excited to join the Steampunk family and work alongside the leadership team to continue serving our federal government in a new capacity,”

As the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s acting commissioner between January 2017 and March 2018, McAleenan managed a $13B agency budget and supervised 60K personnel supporting border security, counterterrorism, trade enforcement and other national security operations.

McAleenan also held various leadership positions at DHS after joining the department in 2010 and worked in various roles at The Sentinel HS Group, Gunderson Dettmer and Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton.
