Today is Midsummer’s Eve in Sweden, the major holiday in Sweden, celebrating the longest days of the year.
We celebrate by dancing around a maypole and singing traditional songs with flower wreaths in our hair – a tribute to the light of day since our Viking days. All people have a Midsummer dinner with herring, new potatoes, sour sauce, vodka followed by strawberries.
Then the party begins and we stay up all night in the land of the Midnight Sun.
Happy Midsummer!
