A.P. Moller – Maersk has put a lot of capital aside for logistics acquisitions, and CEO Søren Skou is glad competitors have chosen a different path.
The different strategies may prove a good thing for the container industry, as players transporting of cargoes across world oceans will thus compete on low costs and prices only.
”One of the exciting things that have occurred in the container industry is that some have taken the logistics path. But also that some haven’t,” Skoud said when presenting its Q3 report.
French shipping competitor CMA CGM, Chinese COSCO SHIPPING Lines and several others including smaller carrier Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd are also oriented toward logistics.
