Time to go to London again. Brexit is the largest change in the Customs and Border environment in our lifetime and it is exiting to be able to play a role in the practical technical aspects of this historical event.
As a Customs and Border expert, I have worked more than three decades on development, reform and modernization – in 120 countries. Designing modern, innovative, customs and border solutions is what I do for a living. This is my home.
Thus it is a privilege and honor to be invited to give advise on different potential solutions to the border arrangements post-Brexit. On the other hand, it is also a normal day at work.
There is a solution. It is possible to use existing best practices, bring them to an optimized status, develop these opportunities to a new level (2.0) and use state-of-the-art (exisiting) technology – to do the job. It is even possible to do in the time availble. If we start now.
